Jasmine is one of my 13 1/2 week old EEs and she picks on a small little black sexlink and my partridge cochin all the time, doesn't hurt them but chases them around and makes them cry, I know that she is trying to let them know she is dominant over them, but at night when there roosting the two little ones always cuddle up next to her and sometimes she pecks them, and instead of running or trying to get away they try and climb up under her! Also she does that growling/purring to them too at least i think she is doing it for them. I feel really bad for the babies (both are 11 weeks old) and I try and move them away from her and they cry and go straight back to be with her! What in the world is going on? Im totally confused please help me understand! Its driving me nutts. [IMG] [IMG]Thanks Sandy
I also wanted to add that Jasmine has just started to pink up on her nose/comb in the last 2 or 3 days as she really don't have a comb to speak of. And she acts totally hen like, but is there is a possibity that she might be a roo? She was ordered and sent as a pullet? Thanks again Sandy
Ok last Edit, hope i get all the info in here this time, I went and checked her neck and saddle feather, and she doesn't have the pointy feathers in either place, but in the picture because of her pattern it make it kinda look like they are but the feathers are rounded on the ends. Hope I was looking for the right thing! LOL

We had the same problem. The chicks wouldn't move and she would just keep pecking them. she bloodied a couple of them. We ended up having to seperate her from the other chicks. I just think ours is a mean ol' [IMG] lol

Jasmine isn't really hurting them, I see no blood and she is fine when they are under her but if they get up or change positions she has no tolerance for them and it is just these 2 chicks that insist on being with her even though I think she is mean to them! LOL Go Figure! Sandy

Well Im glad to hear that! But why is she being so hateful to the little girls, she wants them close to her but then is over bearing and mean to them if they move around! Its like she want them under her and if they move she gets mad and pecks them? Grrr, and the dumb little girls just stay there! and if i move them they cry and squawk and go right back to were there being abused, I dont get it! LOL
