I have a hen that CROWS -WHOOPS One of my babies is a boy !!

I too remember my grandma telling me that a crowing hen is bad luck.. I'd eat her if it was me, my grandma would roll over in her grave if I didn't. lol.

No, you've mixed us up. I'm the one with the eight week old "hen" so she doesn't lay yet.

I really wouldn't count on her to stop crowing. Chances are it will be a permanent thing.
My grandmother, and my mother too, would summarily dispatch any hen who crowed, because of the "bad luck" belief.
In most of the long crowing breeds, (there are quite a few) it is considered desirable for the hens to crow. Probably makes for a rather noisy farmstead!

Anyone here want a beautiful white rooster named Charlotte? He's a White plymouth rock and he's very friendly. I just posted in BST. My Ruby wasn't the one crowing.....

Now we're sure, too. One of the "hens" is crowing. Just a few times yesterday and a few times today. We singled her out yesterday and marked her by putting a zip tie on her leg, so I'm sure it was the same one today.

But, she still doesn't look any different from the other Rhode Island Reds. So I'm not sure she's a rooster.

I'm just worried about one neighbor who likes to cause trouble for us.
