And we all agree it is cute and it doesn't bother the food and there is no mouse poop to be seen. It is about 1 1/2 - 2 inches long and very light grey, almost like a white mouse pet that got loose and rolled in the dirt. It likes to sit on Sara's shelf and stare at her as she talks to it. If it gets into the food, I will have to trap it, but until then it is Stuart Little.

peppermint oil will make it go away.. Put it where it comes in... (not where your cat can get it)...On a cotton ball.. they hate peppermint.

Awww, sounds cute! I hope it doesnt reproduce, or you could be in trouble!

And here I am with my son having pet mice, one of whom came to us pregnant (ACK!) so now we have 4, PLUS its 5 freakin babies!! I keep telling him how chickens LOOOOVE to eat mice!

He does a head count now everyday, just in case. (hehehehe

HAHAHA!!! No this one does not seem to fat at all. In fact it looks very healthly, just small. I bet some one lost it. Field mice are brown with grey ticking. This is not a field mouse.

Lost one? Entirely possible.....when I was 12, someone 'lost' a kitten in our backyard. My parents still let me keep it

I would freak out a bit though if my son lost one of his mice in the house. The thought of mousey poo-n-pee in secret places gives me the 'eeeww' shivers!

My DS lost a white hamster in the house (and we have mouser cats). Thought it was toast. Two or three weeks later he came shrieking into our bedroom at two in the morning (he was in middle school then) that Houdini came back. Terribly skinny, but had managed to avoid the cats all that time. It had chewed up its plastic cage system - the kind with the tubes and balls and all. I wouldn't have been surprised to see half hamster mice hybrids running around after that.

Ummm, If you want it for a pet, catch it in a bucket trap (without the water, of course). Rodents don't have bladders, according to the pest control sites, and just dribble as they go. urk.

We have a terrible mouse problem in our house right now-lazy cat doesn't do his job! I am ready to replace him! Olivia came into our room at 2:00 this morning wanting a drink. I sent her back to bed and she started screaming and screaming as soon as she walked in her room! Of course, Sophia woke up screaming!
I think it was a rolled-up sock on her floor that she thought was a mouse!

I did try the peppermint oil trick yesterday, so we will see if that works!

There are very humane live mouse traps. You could catch it and keep it as a pet.

Even if it isn't getting into your food (and I gurantee it has a food source somewhere or it wouldn't be staying, maybe a pet's food bowl) and even if you aren't SEEING the poops (i also gaurantee they are still around) you have to worry about disease and the possibility of it bringing in fleas.

Do yourself a favor and catch it now before it becomes a problem. Mice breed pretty quickly.
