I agree with the idea of darker red feathers coming up is a probable sign of roo.

A very high percentage of hatchery naked necks turn out to be buffish/orangish hens with roosters of a distinctly darker shade of red. Like on him.

So, chances are good for him being a boy but there is no harm in waiting a couple more weeks.
