Darcy, my first hatch was a disaster! I started with 8 eggs in the bator. On day 12 or 13 I candled them and found I had a few that started to develop and quit while 4 were showing definite development. I candled them again before lockdown and pulled the 4 that had quit. The other 4 were looking good. On day 27 I opened the bator and performed 4 eggtopsies...4 fully developed chicks that died and never hatched.
I was going to give it up right there, but the enablers of BYC convinced me to give it another try. I'm sure glad I did. Good luck with your hatch and I hope you get 3 little fuzzies soon!
BTW - what kind of bator are you using? My 1st hatch was a still-air homemade unit and the 2nd was a homemade forced air.
