I have a pip!!

Congrats on the new babies!! I was keeping my fingers crossed that you would get a good hatch. :)

Congratulations! Thank you for the note on the length of time between pip and hatch. I am awaiting some Harlequin eggs, so will now plan on them possibly taking longer to hatch.

Just darling.

Okaaay, so it is now day 31 and I STILL have hatching! Every day I go to turn off the bator to clean it out, pick up an egg and hear pecking. So I put it back and let it hatch. And they're healthy; I haven't lost one yet that has hatched (knock on wood). I'm up to 39 chicks and I'm hoping this is all. What the heck am I going to do with that many birds? I don't have 156 sq ft.

Start gearing up the freezer.

Bobs mature slowly. Anytime between 12 to 16 weeks of age is good. You can go up to 20 weeks, but the older they get the tougher they get. You won't need 4 square feet per bird until after 6 months to a year. So if you are cramped for space, you can go with 2 square feet per bird for the birds headed to freezer camp. :)
