I have a problem with 3 hens using one nest box **UPDATE 5-1-12*

When I got home last night I dreaded opening the chicken house thinking the chicks would be dead and laying all over the floor. Only one chick died. I have no idea why, maybe Denise did it. The two hens sharing the nest box had relocated. One of them with 4 chicks moved behind the nest boxes. The other hen with two chicks stayed in the original box. Both hens are eating and calling their chicks to eat too. I'm really happy with these events.

I have a nice wire cage I could put her in. I'm going to try that. Thanks so much!
I went out to check for eggs the other day and 3 full grown hens are in one nest! It was 95 degrees in the coop! DUH! I had to peel them out and separate them. But a little later, there were two in the same nest again. I guess they decide they want the one nest another one is in and they're pretty stubborn at times (unlike human women).

They do make a lot of noise yelling and squaking when there's 3 or even 2 to a nest. Stirs up the rest of the gals and Red the rooster too. I can imagine what is going through his pea brain!

When I have a chicken going broody and I don't want her to, I put her in a wire cage for a day or two. That has worked for me in the past. Good luck!
