I Have a Question About Cochins?

This is my EE now, she's sitting in my lap while I'm outside with all the chicks.

I was told all 4 of the chicks I bought from her hatched the previous night (which would be 4 weeks ago tomorrow night)

EE are usually smallish birds, though one of my current chicks does seem bigger than the rest.

Orpington can also be a little slow to develop. And I have had Ameracauna hold their cards for a while.

So far any that has almost no tail usually ends up being boy for me.

And another thing... not all people who breed birds are breeding better quality... for example, I will cull out birds that feather in slow or show gender later than the rest of the group. They should be on par with the rest. However, that is from my breeding stock, and not all "show quality" birds will hatch 100% show quality offspring. It just isn't possible. And some people consider culling from their stock to be selling to someone else.

If you end up with any females, they should be good birds!

That's a big pea comb... hope I'm wrong!

Also, non bearded? I usually don't see waddles on my EE at all, much less 4 weeks. But the non bearded varieties can see waddles much easier. And lookin pretty dark red on the wing... but could be a trick of the camera reflecting the shirt or something near by, blah blah..

Lol, well this EE is so much bigger of i hadn't seen how small she was when i first got her, if think she was a few weeks older than the other 3! They have begun to catch up somewhat these last few days. But look at this photo taken on friday, its all of them lined up eating together.

The order from left to right is Ameraucana, Orpington, Cochin then EE

That red might be reflecting off of my shirt a bit. Although he/she has lords of rusty orange coming in. This is from yesterday, not so red I color here

It does have fuzzy cheeks, they just don't show up vey well in the pictures

Cheeks are called muffs, but I think the beard can be separate from that. On my bearded birds I can see zero waddles most of the time. But pics can definitely not tell the whole truth... even if they are worth a thousand words.

When you look at the comb of you Am and EE, is the EE looking as big of a comb as I think? Your Am is Lav?

By feathering, you can definitely tell the EE is older than the others. Still thinking that's gonna be a boy.
