Last year I bought 4 poults that ended up being 4 toms. This year I got 6 poults. I have noticed that my poults fight like my big birds do now. My toms never done that as poults and just started fighting durung breeding season this year. Now that its over they don't very often. So I'm wondering if its normal for poults to fight like that. And do females fight the same way males do? Where they push each other with their necks wrapped around each others? And also do females fan when they fight? Mine don't really strut they fan their tail feathers out though. These guys are only about 3 weeks old. There are 4 of the 6 that do this. I'm seriously hoping they are not all toms! That would bring me up to 7 toms and only 2 hens :(

My females fight harder than the males, believe it or not. They are ruthless!!! They will pick fights with my roosters "just because" and they don't give in. They are THE WORST. My toms are puppy dogs compared to the hens. The hens are like a BEAST in the jungle. And yes my females fan when they fight.

You probably have some mean hens in there. :/

Our rooster RESPECTS our turkey hens. They will kick his butt any time he looks cross eyed at them. He has no long tail feathers because he can't run fast enough. They will sometimes beat up on a tom too, then he won't be allowed back n the flock for a week or so until he has apologised and slept on the couch for a while.

Ruthless.

I took them outside for a little while today and let them hang out in the chicken tractor. The nosey peacocks had to investigate of course lol next thing I knew all 6 are strutting. :/ some also done something else i had never deen my older turkeys do when they were poults. They would run for a minute then just lay down on the ground real quick. I'm really hoping they are a bunch of hens since I've not had hens idk what their normal behavior is.
