I have a question...of morals. LONG.

I would go over there and say, the next time your birds are on my property I am going to shoot them, just like you'd shoot my dog if it got on your property. This is your last warning. And if they come back, just coop them up and keep them.

If you just take them, I'd be afraid he'd accuse you of stealing. Warn him first, like he rudely warned you when you moved in about your dogs. They get what they gave so heres your chance.

A few years ago I had trouble with the neighbor's turkeys and peacock coming over and bullying my sweet roo and eating all his food. I could not even shoo them.
Can't your dogs chase them away? Don't feed them, they will stay. I guess I would tell him to keep his poultry out of your yard, or you'll have to call the animal police. I don't think you can fence high enough , I've seen turkeys fly up 10 feet to a branch.
Finder's keepers, it's your decision. You can also tell him that if his poultry comes on your property, it's a free turkey dinner for you

I would be having turkey and guinea dinner, do you eat your birds. If your not gonna eat them, do you want to feed #??? of birds that you have caught/ and the others when they notice thier FAT budies getting the free meal?? If you fatten up and eat a couple a week, eventually he will notice, and round up those that remain, or you will have free birds till they are all gone.

My dogs are small, Pomeranians...and a doberman thats scared of his birds! Also, my dogs do NOT go out of thier back yard. I have to check thier yard before letting them out because several times his turkeys were in the back fenced yard. I did ask him once about a month ago, when I saw him in town, about him letting them free range like he does. Asked him if he was worried about them getting stolen or killed. His reply....in the winter, they dont lay or breed...and this way I dont have to feed them. U G H ! He said come spring, he will put them in the covered enclosure, and breed them. I dont think he really cares either way!

Do you have a camcorder? I'd let the neighbor's animals go and then tape his birds coming into your yard on their own free will, eating your birds feed, etc. Send him the tape and ask him what to do. I'd hate to think he thought you were stealing his birds.

well,
i'm not gunna say that anyone i know as done this but . . .
maybe i know a certain person who lives next door to someone who isn't doing too good by their chickens. maybe many of these chickens are quite skinny. maybe these chickens are "game" and there are an awful lot of roosters for the size of flock present.
maybe periodically chickens come over into these peoples yard (where there are dogs who would like to teach these invading chickens a lesson) because the owner of the chickens is very careless with them (at least with the ones that aren't gunna win any money) and doesn't keep them properly penned.
so maybe certain persons just go ahead and grant those brave chickens amnesty and rehomes them in safe, responsible homes.
but i'm not saying this happens . . .

Since his birds are hungry, i.e., not well cared for, I will not lose a wink of sleep if you keep them and care for them. In fact, I'll sleep better. The innocent beings come first. He'll just assume they were taken by predators or wandered into parts unknown. From the sounds of things, he should not have other living beings in his care at all.

My vote is with silkiechicken. I believe that morally the right thing to do is to give the jerk, sorry man, one opportunity to remedy the situation. Having a camcorder to show the turkeys and others coming into your yard would be very wise for the future... if that guy should choose to litigate or do something worse.
