I have a rant - BYC Advertising

My ads are all targeted ones advertising chicks from MyPetChicken. I also don't get ads very much.

I don’t know how this happened, but first I got a of annoying pop ups to confirm add choices and now this is all over AND I don’t see any advertisements anymore.

Can relate, upsetting imagery is almost impossible to let go of sometimes.

I know advertising money is welcome to help support a web site. BUT does it have to be an advertisement for meat birds in a casserole? Sorry but I don’t like it. Can’t Purina, Nutrena, and other farm product companies find an audience here on BYC that would be less provocative to people who don’t raise or eat birds?
Maybe I’m alone on this but had to say something at least once.

I'm seeing this too! My oldest daughter pointed it out when we were looking at posts lol. She said "Why do they have ads of dead birds on the chicken website?"

We don't do meat birds (nothing against those that do, I just can't personally bring myself to do it). My daughter is a vegetarian. Our chickens are more like pets. Utility pets, but def pets.

It's because you're not in the USA. You have better privacy rights there so they have to ask if it is ok to use the info they gather from you. In the US anything you do online is fair game.

That's why you got the popups, it's because your country actually cares about your privacy... lol

Running an add blocker on this site is the same as stealing from BYC. Your access to this site is paid for 1 of 2 ways, by adds, or by a PFM, if you don't have either then you are accessing the site for free. If enough people do that, the site will no longer make enough money to support it's self (running a site this size is expensive) and it will no longer exist for you to use.

There are ads on here??? I never notice them. I'm focused on what the forums have in them. Some, like this one, are pretty entertaining.
