I just sent my little 12 week old roo away today. I probably never would have if I hadn't had the dreaded homeowner's association. Although I do have lovely neighbors, I knew there'd always be the "one" who didn't appreciate the early morning wake up and I didn't want to lose my girls because I got "found out".
Buuut, on another note....Although my little guy protected my girls vigilently against my four dogs, and always had his eye out for their safety and whereabouts, and was hilarious and full of personality, the unfortunate thing was that he started to become what we called, "The Backyard Terrorist", rushing the dogs as they tried to leave the house, flying up to grab whatever was in my hand when I stepped outside (believing it to be a treat for him), and sometimes giving the girls (AND the dogs!) a good peck if they didn't do exactly as told.
Although I had a little cry this morning to lose my darling boy (he was a very beautiful Barred Rock), I also knew that if he was this obnoxious at a couple months old, he'd be a holy terror in a few more!
I think if your little roo is going to be a handful, you'd see the signs by now. If you're allowed roosters, he sounds like a keeper!
