I have a sick hen...need some help....

This evening i was cleaning out the coop and noticed one of our Australorps had a clear, runny discharge from her nose and eyes. My wife and i isolated her, now we're not sure what to do, these are our first chickens.

Could anyone tell me what meds to give and where to get them?

Hi. You did the right thing separating her. If you think she is past trying an avian vitamin supplement added to water, oxytetracycline might be the next step.

I get mine at the feed store but when they are out the vetenarian can help.

My wife said she looked better today, how long should i leave her isolated? All she had was a runny nose, and her right eye seemed to be draining clear fluid too. She never had any wheezing or sneezing like i've seen some people ask about. I'll try the vitamin supplement, thanks for the replies.

Don't get in a hurry to put her back with the flock, Make sure she isn't runny any where and then some best to be safe than sorry
