Hey Guys,

I could use a little help....I have a sick hen, her stomach is very swollen and hard. She also needed her behind washed and cleaned. I have separated her from the flock. I really am not sure what to do next. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Welcome to BYC. Are you sure it isnt her crop that feels/looks swollen and hard? That should be normal after she has eaten. Check it the next morning, the swelling and hardness should have gone down by then. As far as her rear end is concerned, you can trim back the feathers and fluff below her vent with scissors. More information is needed such as; her age, what is she being fed, other symptoms etc...It's best you post in the "Emergency/Disease/Injury" section of the forum, you'll get more responses there. Good luck.

Without seeing her I wouldn't have a clue. Can you tell us more? What's she been eating? Anything beside hard, swollen stomach?
