Hey Dixiechick, we have all the same chickens. You can see what I got on my page. Nice meetin ya!
Yeah, this boy's a sweety. My hubby and I were working on our new coop last week and had to keep putting him down because he would fly up and perch on the coop right where we were working!! He'd either crow or just stare at me
It was freezing that day so I would take frequent breaks and curl up on a chair with him on my lap but I didn't want to wake him up when break time was over.
Here's a pic of Baby, my roo I hand-raised when I was a kid. His momma and siblings were killed by a dog and I found him underneath a bush peeping loudly. I think he hatched when I was 10 and Im 14 in this pic.
He slept in my room and never believed he was a chicken. When we did put him in the coop at about 3 months, he would be crowing on the front porch for mom to let him in in the mornings. He would hop up the stairs, walk down the hall and crow outside my door. I'd open the door we'd both hop on the bed.
Every day after school he would wait for me at the end of our half mile farm lane for the bus to drop me off. He was one of the most loyal friends I ever had but he was exiled by the other chickens for being too human. One nasty barred rock twice his size was the only hen who ever paid him any attention. I think babying him, robbed him of his chickenhood
Then I discovered beer and boys and he was lost without me. They require a lot of attention, just like a dog, if you spoil them.
