1) What type of bird , age and weight. Barred Rock Hen, 8 months old. She's lucky if she weighs 3 lbs at this time. The other BR's weigh 6 1/2 - 7 lbs.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. I noticed that she started standing off by herself, away from the other hens.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?Last 3 days
4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I am wondering if maybe some of the other hens have been keeping her away from the feed.
6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. After moving her to a seperate pen she has been eating some layer crumbles, scrambled eggs and a few raw oats. She is drinking water with quick chick in it.
7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Seems a little runny, with a green tint
8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Just moving her away from other hens and trying to get her to eat. She does eat what I mentioned above, but not as much as you think a starving gal would eat.
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Will try and treat myself. The vets in my area know nothing about birds.
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. No wounds.
11) Describe the housing/bedding in use When in with the other hens, 25 in all, she was in a 17 by 30 house with pine bedding.

Extras: I have ruled worms out as none of the BR's have been on the ground yet. Working on their outside pen this spring. She is now in an unused duck lot, with shelter , food and water. She does get out of the box a few times a day to eat, drink and walk around pulling some grass and hunting for bugs. Her eyes are clear. No funny gurgling noises or respitory sounds. This really has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tammy

The others might have been keeping her away from food. If that is the case, she'll bounce back fast. I would do the old "pro-biotic mambo" on her - ACV in the water, cooked garlic in some scrambled egg, and yogurt. Everything natural to perk her up. If she doesn't look better in 4 or 5 days, I think there's the possibility that she has "something." In any case, it is best that she is isolated.
Best of luck with her.

I have to agree with the previous post, primarily because there aren't any symptoms that stand out, indicating a specific problem/illness. Are you saying she "acts" like a healthy hen in her activity level (eating/drinking/scratching about)??? My little EE stands off by herself quite a bit, and she is far down in the pecking order. So maybe if your girl is at the bottom, little access to feed is the problem. Are your girls provided feed all day, free choice??? I'm crossing my fingers that that's the issue,

because that's easy to fix...add another feeder away from the current one. Do repost if she doesn't appear to pick up a little weight over the next few days...
