I am deeply saddened to hear about this!
I got emotional when 2 of my 50 Cornish X died. - I would never have chickens again if I received a box of 95 dead chicks , and still the others dying- imagine how they suffered. What a shameless loss of lives.

I needed to post, because I looked up the regulations and I was wrong. Chicks can be sent priority if they can be guaranteed to be delivered in 72 hours, but priority mail is not guaranteed................

What the ??????

Oh, those poor little babies.....

It is true that postal regulations state all live birds must be shipped by express mail.

This is incorrect. Day olds can be sent as priority, but those are the only ones. Anything over day old has to be sent Express.

hehe And we posted at the same time. Yes, Express is the only "guranteed" within a certain time frame way to ship. Anything else is just a "normally" delivered within 2-3 business days type of thing. No gurantees.

see the post above yours....

I know you are a postal employee, does that make any sense to you?

As I always say (yes, even to my employers) "The only thing that makes sense at the post office is that nothing makes sense." You won't hear one of them disagree with me, either, at least in my office. I find myself

a lot. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job, but a lot of things make no sense at all.

(I sent full grown birds today and got reprimanded (not my home P.O) b/c I brought them in a few hours before the truck was due. Ummm...I had to do that to get them on the truck since I couldn't wait until right before the truck or I'd have missed getting my kids from school. They were sent Express, btw and he tried to get me to waive the signature. Ummm...no, thank you very much! I want to make sure those duckies end up in the hands that they belong in.)

well I am keeping my fingers crossed for the remaining babies. That is just carelessness across the board to ship them like that. I mean they are little living babies. Sheesh. I hate the USPS anyway and think they are useless 95% of the time but to lose 100 babies...my gosh how careless is that? McMurray not shipping them with tracking...is ridiculous too. I will never order from them for sure. First their sick babies and now this....Nope I will stick the Meyer Hatchery. My babies were to me in less than 36 hours from hatching and they were tracked. They care and are friendly people not rude obnoxious buttheads.

P.S.: as to the woman at McMurray...she has some nerve and has no idea who she is talking to. Give us her name and we will light her up like a christmas tree and by the time we are all done, she will know exactly who she is dealing with. The idiot has some gall.

I second this one Cetawin! If you find out who this was MissP, please let us know. I wouldn't mind talking to that woman myself.

I've been following this thread and was thinking maybe a nice person at the ups place heard some peeping and went ahead and used their brain and opened the package to care for them til everything was straightened out.

If I worked their and heard peeping, I wouldn't wait to hear from any authority. If that box was just sittin there, they would be cared for til they went home...What is wrong with people!! so sad. what a waste of life.

I would absolutely be furious with the shipping co. as well as mcmurry's These people are supplying live animals and a part of their job description is having compassion for these living creatures.....just heart sick.

Priority or NOT, the box says LIVE ANIMALS!!! on it. It is there responsibility to have some respect and have care that these babies stay that way!!!

Unfortunately, there just aren't that many people in this society who think that way anymore. They are there for their paychecks and that's all. It isn't just the USPS, it's everywhere. It would be nice to think that there is still some compassion out there, but sadly it is getting scarce to find people with much compassion anymore.
