So this isn't exactly about my chickens..but it does involve them.
I want you to meet Luna. My beautiful Great Pyrenees/CoonHound mix.
This is us showing her the new "present" the chickens starting leaving us. She didn't know what to think.
Luna turns 1 at the end of October and has been the best goofy faced dog we have ever had.
Well tonight, during our walk for potty time (and scaring off potential predators) we spotted some glowing eyes in the field. How those eyes were moving up and down, I'm 90% sure it was a raccoon. (YIKES!) Luna let out her low growl and chased after the little devil. The creature ended up at the end of the field within seconds, scared to death, Im sure.
Luna then proceeded to sit by the porch a few feet from the coop. I was tired of bugs flying at me and wanted to go in and check a little later. Whistled for her to come in, she refused.
Whistled again..not a budge.
She is a very obedient dog, so this was strange to witness. I decided to let her stay because she seemed content on what she was doing.
I checked about 45 minutes later and she is still at the same spot on high alert.
I am just sooo proud of my giant fur baby I jad to share! We had no intention of training her to protect the flock. (we wanted the roosters to have that job)
Just so exciting to see my fur baby protecting her feathered friends!
Here's one of her besties following her around after a bath. (Have to put a leash on that dog after a bath. She immediately wants to go jump in mud if I don't)
