I quickly took the chicks out of the incubator this morning. I have 13 chicks that are dried off and in their brooder. I have at least 4 more out in the bator with a few more eggs pipped. I will leave these till tomorrow. I put them in a box with a light on them till they were dry and fuzzy. I am going to attempt a couple of pictures.

So far less than a 50% hatch, but I have not used this incubator in over 10 years, I over crowded the eggs, and lost power for about 3 hours in the middle of the incubation. I turned them 3 times a day and kept a sponge wet inside it. I am pleased and still have some hatching. Today is Day 21, so not doing too bad. These are just mutt chicks. Their parents were hatched out last year from a Buff Orpington roo and barred rock hen.

Wow! I am surprised. So far I have had 34 out of 50 eggs hatch. I didn't expect much since it has been so many years since I even used the incubator and had the eggs cool down to 95* during a power outage about half way through the incubation. I am very pleased. I took 13 out of the incubator on Sunday morning, 13 more out this morning, and I believe there are at least 8 more hatched out today. Tonight makes 48 hours since the hatch began. Shouldn't they be about done?
