I have been offered a rooster. Please help me with my dissision...

take the rooster.... he won't bother the hens to much, you have 6 hens, he'll pick a favorite and she'll take it for the team most of the time!!!... just let mother nature do what she does.... if he gets mean or doesn't work out, get a different roo..... a flock is happier and way more fun to manage with a roo around!!!

Maybe the roo will calm down with the sex after a bit.He is a teen right now.My 1yo roo is pretty good,BUT is still can be annoying to see the roo chase a hen around and mount her when she is not interested.

We have a little under and acre and he crows often.I got him for hawk protection,and expect him to die for his ladies if they are attacked. He is very gentle too.Tolerates me quite well. I would not put up with a roo that attacked me,or was mean to the girls.

I would say give it a try but tell your friend you will rehome or kill the roo if you do not like having him.

if i dont hear a roo crowing it just feels weird. roos bring the fun all the antics they get up to, some can act like dogs. to me you dont get the full chicken experience w/o a roo.
