I recall seeing somewhere that they lose their viability after 5 - 7 days. I may be wrong.

BTW, your subject line states you have "crowing and chasing"... hopefully, the one playing hard to get is a female, or there will be no eggs. And I don't mean this to sound like a smarty-pants, but there doesn't need to be a roo for a hen to lay eggs; only to fertilize them.

I believe it is a female. She/he is the only one that hasn't crowed in the cage. I just read today that there doesn't need to be a roo for eggs! That is so neat. I just hope something happens soon! I can't wait to get my first egg!
