i dont have the time! i have decided to sell my remaining 3 big horses .. a BS paint filly ( lisa) a tobiano gelding (wizard) and my appendix QH bay mare(cora)... wiz and lisa arent trained yet, they are 5 this year cora bless her soul, is an awesome riding mare,, i just dont ever have the time to work any of them and im not supposed to ride unsupervised because of my head and neck surgery. so, with a heavy heart ( and knowing that im doing the right thing) i am gonna put my wonderful biggies up for sale. its not fair for 3 healthy horses to be pasture pets.. and if im not enjoying riding them or training them well, its not right. Lisa could be a AWESOME barrel horse, wize would do wonderful in halter classes and western plesure. cora is just dieing to be a advanced riders new best friend. *sigh* i will be putting them up for sale soon, in the next month or so, hoping to spend some time with all 3 of them and get one more ride on cora before i send her off.

when they are gone, i will never purchase another big horse. i can still go up to gramas to ride so thats not a biggie. i am going to focus on the minis, goats and the chooks . i only hope that i can find only the BEST homes for all 3. i hope that my girls will still want to ride after they out grow their ponies..

of course this means we will no longer need the 25 acres either..

a hard decision for me, as wiz and lisa have been here from birth

Yep it's a hard decision to make but it is the right decision. On a side note... 25 acres. There's so much you could do. Raise beef or another form of livestock like your goats or sheep. You could grow hay or corn. I would just fall over if I had 25 acres.

That is a hard decision to make. Once you get them into good homes it should get a little easier to handle. I went through the same thing. My spine is full of arthritis and my hip is bad. I suffered a neck injury that should have paralyzed me. But still it was so hard to give up my horses. I had to though because physically I couldn't do the stall cleaning and just having the horses here was too tempting. Every once in a while I would jump on one and ride.
I lucked out. My best friend has a riding stable and she gladly took my horses in. I can see them as often as I like and I ride inside of her arena once in a while. I get crippled up for a week afterword, but it's a safer environment to ride in.
I still couldn't handle not having some kind of horse in the barn so I have a mini here that I can groom and love on and still get the horsey smell. And when the need arises I will rehab a horse down on it's luck.

I know what you're going through. I had to sell one of my horses last summer. Luckily, she does have a good home.
