I have discovered - again - that I am not a city girl

Debi, did you go to giradelli square and get chocolate?!?

Man I miss home, smog, traffic, bums and pan handlers....

When we first moved to temeculia I drove arond for weeks trying to figure out what was "wrong", about 6 months later I was at in intersection when I shouted "where are all the bums?!?!?!" One of my professors at school told me "the get picked up my the cops and shipped back into riveside and corona".

Too bad you are having trouble with the food. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants in SF. Sorry you haven't found one.

I used to spend time volenteering at soup kitchens during high school, and after. Bad as it sounds I think I knew Mr Saddi was "the one" when I watched a family ask if they could sweep up his work parking lot for a few bucks, and he asked them to wait a second, went next door and came out with a ton of food, and filled up the tank on the van they were living out of.

That night we had the cheap 29cent mc d's hamburgers (they were promoed then), and he apologized for not having enough to take me some place nicer.

They ever send you back let me know, I've still got alot of people up there and can get you into pretty much wherever you want to be. I completely reccommend the cafe across from the Curran Theater, they have a cheesecake and coffee that's perfect after the opera, and quite a few of the actors think so too.

Terry if you would like some, I think I have some dried sour dough starter left. You just get it going and you feed it every so often and you will always have it!

I went to SF for a week with my cousin and stayed with my brother. He lives on Market at the fringe of the Castro, in a beautiful flat with a great roommate. I can honestly say that I had the time of my life. Mind you, the kids were home and I was having a romp about with 2 of the most fun people in existence. We saw Wicked, spent a day at the de Young and only saw half of the exhibit, eyed beautiful horrendously expensive clothing at Barneys and ate our way through the city. I had the best macaroni and cheese in my life, and don't even get me started on the eggs florentine! The key is to have a great local tour guide (my brother in my case) to weave you in and through the best things and avoid the worst.

That said, it sure felt good to get back home to my small town with my trees and the rain. But, we are doing it again next year, for sure!

In SAN FRANCISCO?

How is that even possible? I mean, I know some restaurants change with the tides, but even so, I'd be a very happy girl if I could go to San Francisco and eat at Chez Panisse.
