I have hatched a three legged chick

p.s. I'll remember about the oxygen, that could turn out to be life saving advice for a loved one... thanks ok...

Trinity is doing great in the pullet coop. I moved her out with Peach, Speckles and Star. They are now around 16 weeks old. They still hang together in the coop and I would really like to move them to their own private pen so I can monitor their egg laying. Trinity seems to be normal other than the extra leg, however I would like the egg test over so I can quit worrying.

Does the third leg work? As in, can the chick move it or control it at all? Of course, it wouldn't actually be any use for walking on because of it's location; but I was wondering if it could flex the toes when it's touched, perhaps...

Just found this tread I did read another post about a 3 legged hen she lived in to an adult. I hope your 3 legged chick does well please post some new pictures.

The leg does not work, but it does bob when she cackles and she can lift it. I plan to try to take some pictures this evening if I have time. I have to breed a pig and tonight is semen collection night for my boars, I have orders to ship out.

Very cool thread...and the duck with a clawed head...awesome. I know its too late but I like pooper scooper and calling her scoop.

Here is a new pic of Trinity. This was taken a couple of weeks ago. She should be about 20 weeks now, so we are expecting an egg soon. I will try to get some better pictures. Seems like I'm always at the coop by myself and she is a busy girl. Her leg just bobs along behind. All the other hens don't seem to notice it!
