I hate this, I just have too many birds, it started out with 8 left on the doorstep and grew from there! I need to let some go, I brought home more than I expected from midland and I've had to part with a bunch of them. I have way too many roos, but I'm so attached to my boys they need homes I know and trust, but I how do I do that? I've got wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many ducks! I'm letting some go to a lady who lives near here on the other side of El Paso who has championship border collies and one of the herding events is herding ducks! They don't hurt them, but I still worry. I need to let at 6 or 7 adult ducks and the rest of the young ones. I started out with 4 ducks,,, yikes they multiply quick! If anyone is near me, or wants to stop by and see what's available, please do so, like it or not I have to let a bunch go!

Any more strange men with twisted roosters around?

LOL, or need twisted roos? Spoiled ones that get sleep on the porch railing? Or in the tree? Ones who get carried around like babies? I didn't realize just how it was adding until I stopped at the feed store and the owner said "again?" Then I started looking at how much more I was buying in feed and about croaked!

I understand that feed store shock. I have to go back there today and I was just there on Thursday for 50 lbs.

Here I am trying to save money to go see Steven graduate and I'm spending a tank of gas on a weeks worth of food almost, not quite, but not far off.

Same here. We had to make a run for duck food yesterday. We usually have things so that we purchase all the foods on the first of every month (we're retired military). This month we came up short on duck food. Hmmmm, so off to the feed store an hour away to buy some.

I know its not easy deciding who goes and who stays. I have a SLW that I adore but his feathering/lacing is not the greatest for breeding. I also have either an Andalusan or a Minorcan hen and roo that needs to go. (When I purchased them they were supposed to be BA's)

UGH, decisions decisions!

Good luck, Writer!

I am not sure how far Chapperal is from Tulia (south of Amarillo), but I can sure use some pullets. I have a playa lake next to me so I might could take some sweet ducks also! Let me know - I could possibly meet you!

I just let three of my first hatch go tonight. They were three roos. It was sooo hard. My gut is in a knot about it, but I did manage to give them to a couple that wants to put them with their flock of hens, so at least I don't think they'll be eaten...yet.

LOL it's about 425 miles to Amarillo, even half way is a long drive for chickens! Although I have driven to Midland and to Arizona for ducks!

It's hard to walk out there and look at them with a camera and decide whose pic to take to put on Craigslist! They come running and have no idea what's going on.
