I have no idea what I am doing

Just had to share the wonderful unexpected Thank You that Lucky's family sent me... honestly, just helping support and guide Lucky's successful hatch was thanks enough for me, but this is absolutely much appreciated... and will be thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank You very much, Lucky, Steven and Michael!! :hugs :hugs

View attachment 1049495 Here is a pic I just took now. Our morning ritual he eats, runs around and poops and then loves to snuggle. Oh today is four weeks for lucky. In the last two days I occaisionally hear something that actually resembles a quack. Is that possible or my imagination?

My new fave pic!!!
:love :love :love

4 weeks is early, but not unheard of... 6-8 weeks is the average timeframe to voice sex ducks... but... girls have been known to 'find their quack' early... and I have never had an early quacker turn out to be male... ;)

ETA: it's much harder to distinguish the male raspy voice from the duckling peeping...

Here it is the double yolked duck egg. got one decent picture, It doesnt show much but it shows enough

I'd candle it again in a few more days. It's quite possible that you are just seeing head and butt, with some of the other stuff obscuring the middle of the body.
If it is in fact twins, I agree with Liz, they don't hatch/survive very often, but I'd still let the momma give it a shot! Best of luck!

Got :fl for you! The other 7 duck eggs are viable, correct?
Yes the other eggs are, we are hopping for at least six ducks. the other two eggs are pretty much the packing peanuts

Exactly! I think most first timers panic over this(me:lol:), but soon learn to observe and chill. I was going to say straw is not as good, but seems like others use it fine!:D
I use straw, but it isn't absorbant like shavings or puppy pads. It's cheaper for me cuz I use it in big ducks house outside too. Shavings are a nightmare out there if it rains. The straw doesn't stay wet like shavings in coop it breathes. It's really a matter of preference, cost and how your ducks react to it. I was using grass clippings cuz they smell much better and my birds love to root in fresh cut grass and no harm if they eat it, but my Pekin had reaction to the dust once grass dried. So I switched. Have used everything corn cob bedding, pine shavings, puppy pads, pine pellets and straw and combination of all of em. There are pros and cons to all of em. I will saw as far as ducklings in house go that pine keeps the odor from wetness and poo down. They're definitely messy lil buggers :) but I love em!

View attachment 1037535 Lucky got a big giant pool today. Michael had to strap on to top of the car to get it home. We put lucky in last night and not the reaction I expected at all. He was very calm and mostly just floated around and paddled through with a little splashing. When we did that in the house he was under water in minutes like the torpedo and Mike and I were soaked every night with water dripping off the kitchen cabinets. A bunch of the neighbors came over to see his first swim in the big pool. Maybe it was all those people watching and he was shy lol
Cherish the Lil guy time, blink your eyes and they are grown. Here's my girl that hatched in February
