Stupid question.....is it normal that ducks will not go in their coop during the day to escape bad weather? They have access to the coop 24/7 but seem to stay out in the cold and rain. I'm hoping that they will start going inside when the really bad winter weather arrives. Is there anything I can do the entice them to go inside during bad weather?

Have you heard the expression - 'Like water off a duck's back?'

Remember that cold to you and cold to a duck are 2 different things. Also remember the most expensive parkas use down from ducks and geese for insulation.

ETA If you want them in their house, go in there yourself and they will probably come in to visit with you.

My ducks prefer to stay outside during all kinds of weather. They will jump in the water like it's no big deal when it's freezing outside. And if their swimming hole is frozen. . they are mad.
