I have no idea what I am doing

Hey byc family. My lucky is getting feathers on his wings. All looks good but I'm reading too much and now I'm afraid of angel wing. I have been feeding him dumore starter grower with 20% protein. Is this too much protein?
20% is fine, i know the Kathy (casportpony) feeds turkey starter to her ducks and i think its 26%. Angel wing is more of a hereditary thing and it can also be caused by lacking the right vitamins and minerals NOT the fact that they are getting extra protein.

View attachment 1049495 Here is a pic I just took now. Our morning ritual he eats, runs around and poops and then loves to snuggle. Oh today is four weeks for lucky. In the last two days I occaisionally hear something that actually resembles a quack. Is that possible or my imagination?
seems a little early but maybe :fl

Oh another question. We have been using weewee pads because he ate a little of the pine shavings. As of today lucky figured out that if you wet the pad it's easy to rip to shreds and there is some kind of gel inside the pad when it gets wet. I need to leave for work now and want to know if that could get him sick or should I just take the weewee pads away?
i wouldnt think eating it would be good but i dont know, i would take it away

Steve your a good duck daddy, thank you for the update on lucky he/she looks great. Your story was so touching, I am glad you are both doing well. Thank you for sharing.

@Steven Mazzo ..
This thread has read like a novel. So happy to see you baby hatched out. I can feel your pain, I get the same way with my chickens when I incubate them. I have tried to pull them out of the shell, and "help" them a couple times on my first hatch. I killed like 3 of them trying. You did the right thing by waiting. Waiting is so hard.
Its funny how we get so attached to something that we have never seen. We worry SO much about something that we have never seen. It really makes no sense, but it sure does happen.
Congrats sir, and enjoy.

I bet it's a girl! I started hearing a squonk sound outta my girl at around three to four weeks. I should have realised early on cause from listening to their parents but learned from our family here that only females quack lol :lol:

We fell in love day one when we candled the egg and saw movement. At that point we still were not sure if we would keep it if it ever hatched but the we heard that first peep coming from inside the egg 10 days later. It was then I knew we were screwed lol. There was no giving our baby away after hearing that

I'm just curious if you bought swimmies and a bathing cap for Lucky yet? He/She looks fabulous by the way!
Luck is actually quite spoiled. He has a beautiful new pool on Long Island where we live and we are within walking distance to Belmont lake state park. He even has a second pool at Michaels place in the poconos where we spend our weekends. There is a beautiful lake there too just about 300 feet from the house but we havnt let him try out the lake yet.

Here is a picture of the lake at Michaels place. I can't wait to let him in it but right now it's too cold for me to have to go in there to get him out lmao.
