I have several breeds and am finding conflicting

information on egg laying age..

can you please help me?


I have:

Turkens --

RIR --

Red Sexlink ---

BA

BR --

and these two breeds that are about 11-14 days behind:

Brahma (they are white?)

EE'ers

You will find conflicting information because they are all individuals. Some of mine started at 18 to 20 weeks. Some of the same breed from the same hatch started months later. They are not consistent, even if they are full sisters.
 
If you do not have nest boxes prepared, I would have them ready by the end of June, sooner if you get red faces and squatting behavior. The Sexlinks are more likely to lay first, but I had one NN that started at 16 weeks, the others joined in over the next month. Once it starts, the non layers should join in over a couple months. I believe the Brahmas might be later to lay, as I think they are slow to mature. I put ceramic eggs in the nest boxes once I opened them up, and except for my Blue Andalusians, my girls are good getting to the nest box. The blues seems to let the egg drop where ever they are, though they have made it to the run most of the time. I don't have to do an egg hunt as a rule.
