They have always been squatters, sitting pretty in their coop giving me dirty looks when I have the audacity to come visit without treats. Pooping everywhere and expecting me to clean it up. You know how they are. But today, I have 3 actual squatters. The good kind. The kind that promise eggs soon.

One of them is really funny. she shakes when she squats like she is shuffling from one foot to the other really quickly. She actually did this a few days ago but I wasn't sure it was an actual squat because she was standing on a pooper scooper that was wobbly so I wrote it off as her just trying to catch her balance. Maybe after all of this wait instead of my first egg i'll get 3 first eggs in one day!

She looks like she is having tremors. Maybe she will quiver and egg right on out.

One of mine looks back and forth really quickly when she squats. Until yesterday we had an un-suave young rooster in the flock, so I interpret it as her trying to see which way the neck/feather grab is coming from.

Now she can relax no one will be jumping on her back (at least for a long while.)

I just went out to see them squat. (weird thing to do now that I think of it) Anyway the shuffling chicken was standing on a plastic bucket lid when she squatted and it sounded like a drum roll.

Poor quivering baby!

Bahahaha, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who goes out randomly and does squat checks! I love watching my BA squat when I go to pet her and last night and this morning my PBR finally squatted for me, she doesn't do it every time so I'm thinking I have a little bit to wait still but it makes me excited!

no you aren't the only one. I chase mine around one by one seeing who squats and then pick them up to check their bone spreads. Is there a better phrase for that ? if they would just lay me an egg already I would leave them alone. Thankfully my amber white who seems the closest to laying loves any attention I give her. I bug her the most.

I was just thinking earlier today that if my friends say me running around chasing my chickens to see who squatted for me they'd think I was a nut case. My neighbor and her kids and my hubby have already lovingly named me the crazy chicken lady! I'm obsessed at the moment and want eggs!

I'm obsessed too. My husband tells me that if I just stop checking they will lay. YEAH, like that is going to happen! I keep telling myself, "tomorrow for sure" and then remind myself of a spongebob episode.

I know, all our checking probably makes them have performance anxiety but I can't help but check. I check on them because it's so hot outside but I take the time to check for eggs every time I go out there. My BA has been laying for 3 weeks although she hasn't laid yesterday or today which has me puzzled because she has been pretty consistent in when she lays and has not missed 2 days... maybe tomorrow I'll get an average sized egg from her! I'm still waiting on 4 others to start so I really hope I get some multiple egg days soon.
