I have the antibiotics, which one do I use and how much?

I have a couple of chickens that might be moulting, but are sneezing and sometimes sound a little gurgly. I've been giving them vitamins, yogurt and oatmeal until we could get the antibiotics as was suggested from another post. I got both Terramyacin and Tylan. Which one should I give for this and how much? I am concerned that it's a respiratory thing, so I want to go ahead and treat it.

Also...if you give antibiotics, should you ditch the eggs?

i use tylan is your injectable or powder i use powder 1 tsp to a gallon of water.
inj i believe is a half cc per bird i say i believe because you may want to wait for someone who uses it

I used gallimycin for CRD. I had to stop because of the human egg consumption worry. I think (just my ignorant opinion) that it might be because of human bacteria becoming immune to antibiotics that resemble the chicken's sister strain of bacteria. Like the use of Streptomycin. I've spent hours on the web trying to find an antibiotic we could use for our egg layers to no avail. Hopefully, you'll be fine tomorrow!

The tylan injectable is a quarter to half CC, depending on the size of the bird. It will knock the stuffing out of whatever crud your birds have. My rooster looked like Death Itself. He was looking his ol' handsome self the day after his first shot. (You do have to ddo the whole course, which makes the injectable a huge hassle).
I would also like to recommend roasted garlic, which has not gotten much attention on this forum. I have read that garlic powder is a good wormer, but I use garlic to boost immunity and kill germs. I bake whole cloves of garlic and rough cut them into quarters & eighths. The birds gobble them down. As I am careful to use the eggs in savory dishes, I have not noticed an issue with these birds' eggs tasting funny.

The tylan is liquid, but (and now I'm feeling stupid) and I didn't know it was injectable. My hubby just got it yesterday and we thought we could put it in the yogurt or something. Do you think I should just use the terramyacin now because I don't have any syringes or even know how to give a shot ? I want to give it to everyone, because I'm afraid some of the others might be trying to get it.

it would be better to get the powder tylan if you can, if your not comfortable with the injection

Terramycin is generally useless in my opinion. I'd take the injectable back and ask for powdered Tylan if it were me.

Antibiotic resistant genes are usually located and transfered on plasmids. These are little pieces of non genomic DNA can be passed between ANY bacteria which have the right receptors. When a bacteria, be it something harmless or something you want to kill, gets this resistance, it can have "bacterial sex" and pass on the resistance to all it's receptive neighboring bacteria. Doesn't have to be "sister bacteria", just any which can accept the plasmid. Well, I really didn't want to have to medicate my chickens, I'm just scared of this getting worse and them spreading it on. I had hubby get both antibiotics because that was suggested from an earlier post, so I wanted to be prepared with either to make them better. I have vetrx which I really like, and like I said, I've been giving them yogurt with vitamins and oatmeal and a few of them sound better.

So, if I don't do the antibiotics, what is the alternative at this point?
