Well I am their hero now, for I am the creator of bugs.....or so they think.
I have been working on moving an old wood pile to the back of my property. I am getting down to the wood on the ground and of course when you pick up a piece off the ground all the creepy crawlies come out. Well it didn't take long for the chicks to realize that there was a buffet under that wood. You know how much fun it is to load wood into trailer tripping over birds jumping up at the piece of wood your carrying because they see one bug still clinging to the wood. Then you go to throw the wood into the trailer and you cant because there is a bird in there checking out the previous piece of wood.
Let me tell you one more thing these chickens are slave drivers. It was pretty warm today I tried to take a break from moving wood and they threw a fit because there was no more bugs to eat. My wife was laughing her butt off, she said it was funny to see her big burly husband surrounded by chickens, waiting for treats.
Don't feel loney! We have been entertained since we got ours. I have one of my hens that has actually laid an egg in my hand. We have our lawn chairs in front of our coop and a swing on the front porch to watch them. Love My Girls!!!!!
Yes, we too sit out in the backyard with the girls in the evening, relaxing. I too have stealin chickens, I took watermellon rine up, of course I had the center out of it, sat down, doled out the rine and I imidately had one hen on my sholder, one on the arm of the chair and Frieda jumping up and down trying to grab the plate! ha ha...silly girls. So, I ended up taking a bite for me, the rest for them...When it was all gone, they walked off. Grrrr but we love them for their greedy piggish behavior (lol, we dont have kids)
Ridgefire, it sounds like you are the head Roo, and you were falling down on your job!!LOL You'll have to start 'calling' them when you find treats and I bet they won't even look at the other roos!!! I can't wait to get mine...Dixie
That is funny. I can understand totally I cant even make any sounds in the house that sound like a bag rustling and the Rooster comes running to the door. I was putting a shopping bag away the other day and he came out of nowhere running up the lawn because he thought it was treat time.
