I have to talk POLISH!

HiI hatched 2 white crested cuckoo cockerels but only want to keep one to show and breed with my wc black hens,

Does anyone know which of the cockerels would be best for the job?

#1 cockerel, lighter then the other, Breeding with wc blacks so meybe it would be better with a light cockerel?

#2 cockerel, darker and with a tail that points almost straight up...

#1, Close up of face..

#2, close up...

Thanks, Meredith
I'd go with #1 due to him not having a deformed wattle like #2. Also #2 appears to be partially bearded so go with #1 since he is not.

I would watch that someone is pecking his feathers out. I have 1 that was picked on in that one spot--his name honestly as a chick was Baldie because he stood up in the incubator and shaved his head on the fan, seriously........ They did it worse when they were closer together, so try giving yours more space they they are not bored and pick feathers. If they have plenty of space, consider adding more protein to their diet. Or it could be a dominant male showing his dominance. Either way, Nustock is an ointment that is supposed to do wonders with feather growth. There may be some "bad tasting" ointments, too, but I don't know what they are called.

After having lice and a scrubbing, I can imagine he does have a bald spot. It will grow back in eventually, but I don't know if you will be able to train the feathers to hide it--you'd have to get input from someone more experienced than I on the subject.
He isn't getting pecked at, he doesn't seem to have any folicles there at all? He only lives with one other chicken, a silkie hen.

Here's a picture of the day I got him.

There are all types of products on the market to deter feather picking. One is called blue kote and a bunck of others. Once I put some (people) muscle rub on the tip of my roosters feathers and that worked. Another is pinless peepers which although sound not so nice work well and Once in place they are an instant cure. I have read posts that say that their birds have had their picking habits broken. I have used them on my Ams and Marans and they do work.

Hello everyone! This is my first post on BYC, so I'll introduce a few of my little buggers (these are from a while ago) The golden is Theodora, the other (what do I call this color??) is Carla.

I agree. Guy #1 has more white in his crest and he appears to have better body confirmation.
Thanks!! I was thinking that but wasn't quite sure
