I have to talk POLISH!

I LOVE my 2 little buff laced polish. They're about 3 months old and standard sized. I was expecting crazy, flighty, nervous birds, but these guys are nothing like that. They're very sweet and come running up to me.

Do they look like pullets? (ignore the dates on the pictures, they're inaccurate)

Yes, at that age those are pullets.

Give him some time, he still looks young.

The lacing on his chest looks pretty good, do you have any other photos?

I can take some. They are difficult to photograph! We have four so will photo all of them. Thanks for the advice guys! There's a small one day 4h show in Novemeber and I'd like to figure which one(s) are worthy of taking so my daughter can start training them and not put the others through the stress.

Do polish have trouble with heat? We have lost three. they are fine in the morning, when we feed in the evening we find one dead. they had access to shade all day but the whole pen is not shaded. they are all young maybe 5-6 months or less. Our rooster was stumbling, acting disoriented so we separated him into an area that is shady all the time and he is fine.

In super heat I always scout them and dunk the ones (any chicken) that is panting very fast. I put ice in the water. I find that one of the biggest thing that helps is a big mud puddle. I run the hose for a few hours, and most actually do stand in the water and cool off.

if they are hot they will hold their wings down and out like wind foils and they pant. even just a tarp strung up high enough to let the heat rise out will help.

We take a bowl of water and freeze it the night before a hot day. Then put it in the run in the morning. It melts throughout the day giving them cool water. I also add ice to their normal water, and spray a fine mist of water over them in the middle of the day if a lot of them are panting.
