I have to talk POLISH!

I used to use hairties, but, they got dirty and with the scratching would often lop to one side after a while, pulling on the skin around the eys, so, I cut the crests if needed now. So, of the ones who get clipped, I usually try avoiding showing photos of their heads

I know it's almost pointless to get a well crested breed then chop at that crest, but, these are my parent/breeder stock and I pasture/free range them, so, I can't afford to lose them. Not with how slow my hatch rates have been, at least. (lately it's been one full bator of everything every 3-9 months)

yea, the hair tye didn't stay on very long. I thougt if she could see a little better may she could get away form the roo who is pulling out her feathers better but i think the saddle minght be a better solution unless he starts pulling out feathers else ware. i have heard of using duct tape before but i don't have any on hand and the saddle pattern was very easy and i have a tone of fabric so it didn't cost me any thing to make it.

So my question is I thought this girl was Large Fowl but what do you think? She is standing next to my bantam.
Also when breeding buff laced can you only breed BL and BL together? Or can you breed BL or WC black or WC blue?

Looks like a bantam to me.

Breed BL only to BL. Any other color but gold laced or silver laced and you'll seriously ruin the lacing and color overall, as laced Polish got that way through a complicated series of genes to make them so nicely laced throughout the body.

If you have nothing, the next route is to go with silver or gold laced, but, the first generation will be heterozygous Buff Laced and have smutty black leakage here and there. The second generation back will have 50/50 good and bad birds.
