I have to talk POLISH!

Hi Everyone,

I read through the thread and I haven't noticed any BEARDED WCB. Do WCBPolish come BEARDED? If so, does anyone have any leads on where I can acquire such a bird? Thanks.

While I'm on here I'd like an assessment from the "experts" (LoL) on Bowie, my SL Bearded Polish Roo that was picked up from Cackle Hatchery. He's 2 years old and has just gone through his second molt. I thought he was a decent pet-looking bird considering where he came from. I like that he has very little to no wattle and comb. Is his crest worth even using to breed with other crested birds? I'd like to acquire generously crested polish to my breeding program to top hat some non crested birds. Thanks in advance.

Not the best photos to show off conformation but he looks nice from here. And yes, my boys get bigger crests each molt too.

There are no bearded WCB in the states that I know of, but I have some WCB colored bearded pullets. They won't breed true though. I think a big reason why we don't have such is because the beard increases black in the crest, and the lack of beard really brings out that BIG and dense perfectly round white crest. Adding a beard tends to change feather shape and decrease density of feathers in the crest, although I have seen some nice bearded whites' crests.

I heard several years ago of someone working on a bearded white crested black polish. You could go to the polish breeders website and ask around or you could ask Vcomb(byc member). He might be able to help,he is the vice president for the polish breeders club.

Chad FYI it is a good idea if you are asking for critique of a bird to post more. What is required are shots from different angles showing profiles, stance, tail, back curvature, feet, hocks and more. What you posted is you interest in his fine crest but when judging, The total bird attributes are important to be viewed and considered. I find it difficult to make the required pictures and imagine that it takes lots of practice as birds are not interested in posing and more than a baby or puppy.
