Have been wanting to get a few chickens for awhile, so last year I purchased 3 layers from a Amish Farm, Two were buddies and went every where together, the other seemed like an outcast she was always around but alone. I live alone so 3 eggs a day was plenty, then one of the pair was killed by something. I thought the two that were left would become buddies but that was not to be. They are both around but still separate from each other. All was fine until a rooster from next door started showing up, now one is sitting on several days worth of eggs and does NOT want to be disturbed. The other has taken to roosting on the top of my deck rail which has to be cleaned every day now. Seems like she is no longer welcome in the coop. I think maybe the heat may have something to do with all this turmoil we are in our second week of 90 degree weather. Can't wait till hopefully things return to normal. I don't know how long the one will lay on those eggs but right now she is not in any hurry to leave. Will see what happens
