I have two dozen chickens in my house.

. Clearly, none of you has enough chicks. Want to buy some of mine? I had the whirlpool tub full of chicks all winter. Now I am making an insulated room in the barn for them. Next winter I will be able to get a bath in that tub instead of using the other one. I have a set of three brooders along the wall on legs so I can easily clean underneath. Just need to finish one wall and the ceiling.

They are spending their second night in the coop! Last night I went out to check on them and everyone was sort of frozen in place. They were terrified of the dark, so we hung an LED lantern from the rafters. LOL Yep, my chickens are chicken! Tonight when it started getting dark, (we were working on the run) they started pitching a fit! I turned their "night light" on and they seemed much happier.

LOL, I've been there too!!

The worst was when I had 3 - 4 month old LF (Orp, SLW, Delaware) hens in a small guinea pig cage in my bathtub. I got them in Sept, and it rained Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, and I never got them moved outside!! I could never get the grow out coop built! It was really awful!! I wouldn't allow anyone over to my house during that time.

I have 4 chicks- 1 BCM, 1 BlueCM, 1 SW, 1 LB in my living room- we want them to get used to us (and we love their antics). They are in a modified clear storage bin, two bins, actually. They were getting crowded in one bin, so I used a sawzall to cut one end off of 2 clear bins and duct taped them together (really helpful to have someone hold bin/lid while you cut). Cut one end off of each top and the middle part out of each lid as well. Duct tape poultry netting over 3/4 length of the opening of the lids, leaving 1/4 end open for the heat lamp. Tape a flat thermometer inside end where heat lamp sits. Fill with bedding of choice (I use sand). Add food, water and chicks! (Lids only become necessary when babies are about 3 wks old- my Marans started fluttering up and sitting on the rim of the box; where they were eyeing my persian rug and thinking it looked like a nice place to leave droppings) The chicks were totally trained after just 3 days- make a kissy noise and they RUN/FLY across the pen to get meal worms! They also have me trained! Around 3 am they start peeping like mad till I go down and give them more mealworms!
