I hope my hens DO NOT start laying soon. NO EGGS please!!

I'm just trying my hand at chicken reverse psychology. Because begging and pleading and watching and pacing isn't doing a darned thing. So I'm going to try the opposite. I'm hoping they don't lay their first eggs any time soon. I want them to hold off until they're at least 2 years old before they lay.

No eggs here. No sir. Don't want 'em. Nope.

Flippin' 23-week old hens with their two weeks of egg squating, bright red faces and NO interest in popping out an egg. GOOD I SAY! GOOD! DON'T LAY!

LOL...it's worth a try!

I finally got my first few eggs. I hadn't checked the coop in two days, went out there and there were 6!!! Unfortunately three were broken. Now I know to check every day!

Edited to add: Mine didn't start until they were 30 weeks old!

Got my hens 5-13-09 I'll just start butchering soon if I dont get eggs. Roosters just started crowing so I know that the time is near.

how old were they when you got them?if they were chicks they won,t be old enough to lay yet,18 to 26 weeks or longer is when most young birds start laying,,5/13/09 is too young

Are you sure they aren't hiding them from you? I was cussin' my girls- until I found a HUGE nest of eggs under the aspidistra!

Think I read that book reverse chicken psychology,ok just make1 nest box since no more than 1 will lay. LOL bet that works

LOL, don't worry, they can take anywhere from 20weeks to 8 months to start laying.
