I just became a first time chicken owner.

I'm glad your happy with them but sorry to hear little one isn't feeling well... if dipping beaks doesnt work try tapping with your finger at the food and water like your pecking. Chicks like to copy thier mummies.... sorry but your now a mother hen!!
Another thing i'd check is see if the top and bottom beak line up? I had a poor little chick who's beak was a little miss aligned so i fed her wet chicken mash instead

Thanks for all the advice. The little chick made it through the night. The others are still moving faster and have mastered the water and food areas but she likes to stay put and doesn't move around alot. The shavings are pine shavings. Today I will go get her some vitamins and Electrolytes and hopefully she will respond to that. Right now I'm feeling maybe it was a ruff trip for her and that she is still recovering from the cold trip since she was so small not as much heat. Well at least thats what I'm hoping for. Hopefully she will rally soon cause otherwise I will have to explain to my son why we only have 2 now.

thats exactly what i was going to say...as far a chicks go...........some are less bright than others, just dip its beek in the water because maybe it doesnt realise where it is, also put a couple pennies or shiny big things like marbles or paper clips like chickennut said. some need more encouragement to drink. (AT LEAST ITS NOT A BABY TURKEY........sheesh, sometimes they are really dumb.)

Well our little Buff chick passed today. I had a feeling this might happen but it's still tuff when it does. Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. Now I will focus on the other 2 and I'm sure we will have alot of fun with them and who know we may get more later.
