i just signed up to this website because i need help!

i just found a chicken that has been debeaked. she's starving and everytime she flaps her wings, a couple of feathers fall out...
but she's very friendly and runs after you as soon as she sees you (probably looking for food i guess?)

i've never owned a chicken before, let alone one with half a beak. i know very little about chickens.

i'll be schedulling a vet appointment tomorrow after work.
i would like to keep her, howrver knowing little about chickens, i may consider sending her to my aunty, who has a farm, and many other chicks! :D

any advice or tips you have for now would be greatly appreciated. she is currently in my yard, safe, eating bird seed. i have yet to see her drink any water.

Alright a first timer

This is one way to feed her

Here as I have over 60 chickens I do not have time to play around
so I have a deep pan of wet feed and when it is wet and deep your
chicken can do the same as face but it is going to take some
work as first but just feed wet feed every day ,.........

Hit me up if you have more questions

I had 40 debeaked battery hens once (I let them free range on our farm). Most of their beaks were as bad or worse than your hen's and they managed fine. Just make sure you feed her from a deep bowl and wet feed, they find it easier to eat wet. I'd also get some poultry dust, Permethrin or Sevin dust and give her a good dust to get rid of any bugs she may be hosting and deworm her, Valbazen is an excellent dewormer. Get her some good quality chicken food, I'd give flock raiser at the moment as it's unlikely she'll be laying at the moment and can benefit from the higher protein. A vet visit for a check-up sounds like a good idea too. Once you are sure she's healthy and free of any parasites, consider getting her some friends. Chickens are great pets
