I just gave away 22 roos and the silence is deafening!

If only we all had such a great place to send our roos to!

22 at the same time - wow!!! I bet that was deafening! We have 7 and it can prevent conversation around the barnyard for sure.

Along the "what to do with your roos" topic, we are keeping one with our girls in a coop/run (currently only have 2 hens), and the other 6 are free-ranging around our barnyard. So far so good. The plan is to build a large run and an additional coop and alternate the boys/girls for free range. Hmm, we'll see how it works out. Also going to get more girls.

Glad things worked out so well for you!

Thanks Melissa. Your solution is a good one too. I hope it works out great for you!

The farm I took them to free ranges their chickens and they said they hardly ever have a squabble.(they DID have two HUGE white Jersey Giant roos that had been beat up my a bantam roo and were being kept in a separate pen until they recovered--I know, I couldn't believe it!)
They have a hen house with a run off of it and my boys are currently in the run until they feel they can be turned out with the rest.

Good for you, they went to a good home.

I gave away 25 young eating size roo's to the guys that trim the trees for the electric company and they gave me 30 loads of mulch that my chickens just love to play in.
