I just HAD to show this! *PICS*

Love the doubles. I have never had one before in my 7 yrs of having chickens until recently. Of my 4 newest girls, 3 have been giving me double yolkers off and on for the last few week. I know it won't last but it is kind of neat.

Thats so funny! I just got my chickens last friday and have been blessed with 2 eggs but TODAY got a HUGE egg, just like yours! Oh, going to the coop in the am can be a wonderful treasure! OR a sad disappointment (no eggs) HAHA. AND AND AND I just ate dessert and seeing this pic still made my mouth water. Yummy yummy happy-chicken eggs. Best stuff on earth

I googled the thing and it says here, that either ovulation was too fast or one of the yolks got lost...

I'm just imagining now, how this yolk is alone in the big forest and the big bad wolf comes by...

Really? Do you have a link?

I don't know what the circumstances were so I can't say I agree or disagree with her "helping" them out but here is the video. There's also a second video of them dry and walking about.... And apparently it's a fellow BYCer, hehehehe.

OK, so at the beginning of this thread I showed what I thought was a huge egg... Well, today our Cornish Rock, Big Fat Chicken aka Big Fatty, surprised us with a truly HUGE egg, lol.

Second pic, I knew it wouldn't fit in the carton but I wanted to show a comparison, lol. Third pic shows the egg we got from her yesterday, on the left, obviously, lol. And the last pic is Big Fatty.

It doesn't actually depend on age- it's their diet. Feed them lots of greens and I'm sure you'll get orange eggs!

I think she was talking about the double yolkers..

As far as color, I didn't realize that but it makes sense. We had moved and our chickens had to be kept in confinement til recently when we got a gate up so dogs wouldn't come in. Before now the yolks were a little lighter than before we moved. I'm so glad they can free range again!
