I just have to share....New puppy!!

E.M. Silkies :

Thank you! We also have a GSD but she tends to like to play with the flock a little more than watch over them! I'm really looking forward to having a dog that I know can totally take care of himself.

that's more of a training issue and can be a problem with a GP as well.

Correct, but with a GSD I'm competing against instinct not just lack of training. It makes things difficult especially when you have to work through abuse issues as well. Training/discipline is a whole new ball game when your dealing with an abuse case. Whereas with a GP, they chase until they learn to submit to their flock/herd.

ETA: At least the submission thing is what I've understood from several GP breeders/owners.

Thanks Glenmar...we got him from a breeder in Floyd Virginia....he has the best personality...the only bad thing is he is a little smaller than what I like...but I also havent had him fixed yet....I was waiting till he turned 2...so my plans are to have him fixed this fall....he weighs around 95 to 100 pounds....my last one got up to 130...so I was used to the bigger ones....we will see what this one does....he lives with dachshunds so he doesnt realize how big he really is

Wow! What a gorgeous puppy, EM, any updates on pics? Love, love, love the puppy with the black and white markings. And, of course, GPL's dog is just an extreme example of gawgeous!
