I just killed my hen

I can't believe it.

I injected her breast with Pen G and she immediately up and died.

I feel so sick.

I don't think it was a reaction to the Pen G - she had an injection of it yesterday with no ill effects.

Now I am terrified of ever giving another injection

I feel so terrible.

Im so sorry. Are you sure you didnt enter the heart or lung? Im a certified tech and that is how euthanasia injections are sometimes done (but with an anesthetic).

I was just tonight wondering how I would inject one of my girls, because she has some kind of infection. Are you sure it was because of the injection? Perhaps it was something else?

I have never heard of giving injections in that area.Guess you learn something new everyday.

Maybe you got it in a vein. The procain (sp) in penicillin G causes cardiac arrest if it gets in the vein.

Oh yes, did it have procaine in it? I believe that is a very weak anesthetic used to numb the area as the PennG in giving because it can be painful.

Again, Im sorry, I know you must be sad but accidents happen to us all.

The procain is added to penicillin to keep the blood level of the drug up. Otherwise you have to give it very frequently, like every 4 hours, to maintain an acceptable and therapeutic blood level.
