Chickengal505, I know it seems really hard right now to see it this way, but life will go on. I promise. With Facebook, Skype and all the other ways you kids can keep in contact, I don't feel you'll no longer be in touch. Granted, you can't be WITH each other, but you can still "be there" FOR each other throughout life. I'm sure he's not happy about leaving you any more than you are about him leaving either, but if he hates the area THAT much, I'm sure you want to see him happy.

Enjoy the time you have with each other. High school is a whole different ball of wax and I'm not saying you're going to "replace" that friendship, but you'll find MORE friends along the way. And hopefully still be talking to this friend of yours.

Is he having to move because his parents are relocating?

Yes, look at it as a new chapter for both of you.How exciting for your friend. These days with txting and skype you will be able to keep in contact better.

I always tell my kids to not allow their happiness to be dependant on others, because they will not always be there for you.You need to meet your needs not expect it from others...that is just a bonus when(if) it comes you way.

My kids go to a private school which ends at 8th grade.Any friendships they develop at the private school will need to be nutured outside of the school setting once they are done at the private school.Lol, I can't send the kids to the same schools and colleges as their friends after 8th grade! Well I could, but I doubt that is what I will be doing.

Hugs and wishing you happier days ahead.
