I just need all of you to know this about Syria my home town

There has been some talk about getting some additional arms to the Syrian rebels through back channels. The US does not want to be seen as being a direct supplier of those arms but I think that the end result is that Syria is headed for a full scale civil war and the only thing that can be said is that unlike many of the Arab countries that went through similar rebellions, in Syria's case whatever group ends up taking over they can not be worse then the current rulers.

I thought of you today. We made some new friends and going to their house for dinner, and they are Syrian. Very, very nice people with a great sense of humor. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers.

Just heard on the news, Syria will be getting help with arms... no details but sounds like good news.

And continued prayers from our little Texas town.

Syria, the government/country is getting help with more arms, or are THE PEOPLE being armed to defend themselves against their government?

If the government of Syria is getting more arms, then whoever is giving it to them needs a boot to the head. The people need to defend themselves against a terrorist leadership that has turned their guns on their own citizens.

ETA: Omran, you and your family and all the good, innocent people of Syria are in our prayers and thoughts!

Syria is a great country with a rich history. It has always been a center for high learning and culture in the region. I pray for the people who want to restore that glory to have the strength to overthrow their tyrants. Many will die, lives will be ruined but when tyrants will not step aside in the face of public opinion, there is no other way. Evil people only understand bullets, bombs and the gallows. I have been involved in training individuals in the past to help directly in similar situations in the art of sniping. Some of my students went on to do great work against the Taliban and Al Quaida. One of my top shooters was Syrian, not regular army. I hope he is putting his training to good use for the liberation of your people. Given the large numbers of arms readily available in the region (the Soviet Union used the mideast as a proving ground for their anti-tank weapons and a dump for Kalashnikov and Dragunov rifles produced in excess of need to keep the factories busy) I'm sure the people will be arming themselves once they commit to overthrow the government by force. I understand many in the regular army are deserting with their weapons and joining the resistance. Sorry I don't have a better outlook, but change from brutality to Republic is always painfull. Trust in a higher power to give your family and friends safety, and if that fails may they give their lives heroically fighting for justice and peace and take some of the bstrds with them.

I came home from our dinner with our new Syrian friends with a MUCH better understanding of the region and the people. What an incredible place!!!!! Once this unrest has passed I would love to visit Syria and Lebanon. Our new friends are very kind and caring people, much like Omran is, and they share a love for their country and an appreciation to be here in the US now. I am proud that they call us their friends, and I am lucky to get to know them.

Thank you all so very much , I know that I can allways count on you my dear friends and I must say, I am sooooooo blessed here in the United states of America and I truely appreciate this Land, while I enjoy the freedom here, other family's member are struggeling with getting out to buy food for thier kids, I am glad you guys are reading about that bad dektator, and I am trying to expose him to the world.
I call my Mother every day, but even on the phone she is afraid to say what is exactly going on, because the regim's militias might be on the other side of the phone spying on evryone.
But I am sure that he will follow all the bad guys and he will be in the hell fire with gathafi and the rest of the gangsters.
I am sorry if I can't reply here much often, because most of the time I am reading the news on the bbc and other chanels.
