I just rescued a baby trout or bass, Anyone with fish experience?

Well I plan on tracking down the proper things for him, this JUST happened. And as for putting him back where he was found, I'm pretty sure he was found on a part of my yard that was flooded but the water level has dropped drastically and quick so I can't put it back. If I can't find the tank I'll try to locate a lake or pond to put him in. And FYI this isn't for jollies...I could just as easily just feed it to my chickens. I was just going to try to save him and if I end up being able to grow him/her up larger, than yes I will kill and feed it to my family. If I can't do it, then he'll go to a better habitat. I can't exactly get somewhere to drop him off at, at the moment.

in a lot of places its illegal to keep "wild" fish like that in aquariums. having said that, little kids do it all the time. unless you have a huge tank he will never grow to his full potential though. i would dump him back in whatever body of water he came from when the water recedes to its normal level, assuming he is still alive.

i had a tiger botia that tried to commit suicide one time only to be used as a chew toy by my roommates golden retriever. when my beagle told on the golden retriever i rescued said fish and he lived.

well the current plan is to change the water a few times a day to keep him oxygenated, I know it'll eat small crickets now so I can keep catching them. I tracked down a body of water it could probably survive in after things go back to normal around here. If I can find a chiller or large tank, I'll try to set up a more natural habitat for him, if not, into the lake he goes.

If its a bass, as others have mentioned a large enclosure is proper. They have voracious appetites and require a decent bit of attention on your part. If you want a pet fish fine, but if you want to raise this bass up and eat it later on, you will be putting way more effort in, then what you'll be getting out of the project.

BTW, bass are very smart fish and I in fact knew a man whose father trained one to swim through hoops and jump out of the water through those same hoops. I know this sounds unbelievable but he had video footage of his Dad and the fish, blew my mind, I tell ya! His Dad actually traveled with the fish and was sponsored by a beer company and a soda company, I believe pepsi. In the bottom of the tanks were cans with these companies labels on the cans.

I saw, therefore I believe.
