I would LOVE that but then you gotta take at least 21 of them

I just incubated a dozen TJ's eggs. The eggs were three weeks old when I bought them, and sat for several days before going into the incubator. Three made it to lockdown, growing and moving in the egg. Only one hatched, with help. He is now 1 week old, and my little sweetie! He is very tiny, about half the size of the other 10 chicks, but holds his own with them. You may get many more than you expect, given the fresh eggs and being prepared to incubate! Good luck! I'll be watching to see how it comes out.

I love your optimistic approach to this.

Ha! I thought for a minute bock_bock had started a fourth run at it. xD I wish you the best of luck and will also be watching from afar with great anticipation! The idea of having a tj's chook is so cool. Safeway has fertile eggs as well but the odds of a succesful hatch are probably on tj's side. I've been facinated with hatching chickens from a grocery store fertile egg. It's a good thing I don't an incubator yet. For my DW at least lol.

You doing the TJ thing too?

I am not prepared for 42 chicks!!

But they have been processed and probably roughly handled... I just want to see if I can get a chick or two...

I thought about the washing of the "bloom" off of the eggs but we will just have to wait and see...

Ahh, no, not Trader Joe eggs, in fact we don't have those in Canada!! Just my first hatch in general. Let's hope I get a better turn out than you, fingers crossed, lol. Let's see you end up with a full 42 eggs and me none. *yikes*

Ohhhhh! You had to post this TODAY???????

I soooo want to try this! I want 1 trader joes hen, sorta as a experiment. I'm wondering what their egg production would be. Everything I read about them says it's pretty good.

It just so happens I have an appointment in Pittsburgh today about 5 blocks from the only trader joes within 100 miles! UGH! Do you know how hard it's going to be to not stop now? I wanted to give the bator a break...well really it's the brooder that needs the break! lol

I might just be joining you on this....

I used to call the guy down the road Trader Joe, I didnt know there was a grocery chain with that name. I guess now I am going to have to comeup with another name to call my neighborhood chicken trader.
