Best Wishes and we will keep watching this thread! I think the statistics are in your favor if you have that many eggs. We loved doing the experiment last year and would do it again in a heart beat if I had the time for baby chicks again.

i myself set 3 dozen and when lock down came around only 7 made it the others never developed or got blood rings within the first few days, but out of the 7 that made lockdown 1 hatched, and is doing preatty good it is 2 weeks and 2 days old today

when i did my eggs, the actual eggs were stamped with dates, so that made it easy for me the first tj hatch i did were the freshest ever they were just settign the eggs out when i got there, so there were only a couple days old, but unfortunetly electricity went out that hatch and i lost them all, thats why i did a second batch and thats where i got my single chick i named Frosty

ok when i called the trader joes corprate office they said they get there eggs from leghorns, but htis is an email i just got from them for a reply to the same question i sent them before i called:

I read somewhere that they were called Hy-Line W-98 or was it 36? lol something like that! I think it's a type of leghorn....please correct me if I'm wrong!

you can put eggs from the grocery store in an incubator and chicks really come out?

Yes you can. But the pkg must me marked FERTILE EGGS. Won't work with just any grocery store eggs.
